Lucas had left the cafe a few minutes prior, seeing Brooke and Peyton together. He was happy they could regain their friendship, but he also felt guilty for being the cause of it all. When Peyton sent him a text though, he felt a little easier on the whole thing, knowing she didn't totally hate him.
Arriving at the Rivercourt, he hoped it would be an easy place for Peyton to find him at so they could meet up. Lucas walked over towards the empty bench and sat down, hoping she'd have no trouble finding him.

Peyton finally made it to the Rivercourt, her hair flailing in the wind and her cheeks a nice rosy pink. She smiled as she saw Lucas, not wanting to fully admit how deep her feelings went for him.
"So...you are like the easiest person in the world to track down but the hardest person to catch up with?" Peyton said laughing as she took a seat beside him on the bench. "I'm sorry if you felt awkward about the whole me and Brooke thing. She just came to my house this morning and basically forgave me. Pretty cool - huh?"
Peyton said, as she looked at him more throughly now having finally stopped talking and waiting for his response.

When Peyton sat down, he looked over at her, studying her hard for a few moments until she spoke up. Lucas couldn't help but grin after that and nodded. Stopping again, he let that grin fade away as he listened hard to her words, before biting his lip.
"That's great." He smiled, with honesty. More then ever, he knew Peyton wanted Brooke's friendship back, and Lucas was happy that they could do that again. But he knew if he got in far enough to one of them, everything could turn downhill. Which was the reason why he knew his boundaries.

"How are you feeling about the whole situation? You and Brooke?" Peyton said biting her lips questioningly as she pulled her legs up tightly around her.
Peyton listened as he spoke, intent on analysis of his words, as he finished, she took a deep breath. She knew Brooke had given her the go ahead, but she wasn't sure where Luke's head was at. "So...where does that leave us?"

When Peyton had asked him about Brooke, he heard himself sigh lightly before shaking his head. "We're friends. That's it. I'm finally figuring out I might not be the guy for her." Lucas informed her. He loved Brooke more then anything, but some times people grew apart, he realized.
As Peyton listened to him, he felt a little silly for telling her, as he laughed casually. His soft chuckle stopped when she asked him those words. He felt himself growing uncertain, as he didn't reply for a long moment. "We're friends..." Lucas begun, the uncertainty growing rapidly in his voice as he concluded. "Aren't we?

"Of course." Came Peyton's sharp response, she cushioned it with a smile, before looking down and picking at the wood on the bench. She didn't know how to explain things to him, how to tell him how she felt without him...walking away.
He had just broken up with Brooke, and he said it himself they were just friends, nothing more, nothing less. She looked up half smiling, her eyes unable to hide the heartache that was forming. "Well, I'm glad we got all that sorted out."
